Are they a True Friend?

The person we call our best friend is usually like a family member that you chosen to include in your life. They know your deepest secrets and, what makes you happy and  sad. In many ways  they’re an extension of you. Friendship is a wonderful thing but like all relationships some can be toxic. Ms Vixen has chosen what we feel are the most important True Friend qualities, so if who you call your best friend doesn't posses ALL of these qualities, revaluation is in order.

A true friend operates with you, not behind your back
She doesn’t talk about you behind your back. She may discus issues with family and other friends but she doesn’t slander your name simply because anger. She also doesn’t allow other people to talk bad about you. She has your back and understands what goes on between you two stays between you both. Keep their secrets a secret, no exceptions. At some point, somebody you're not close with is going to question the integrity of  your friendship. It's important to find out both sides of the story in a situation like this, but it's also a good chance to show your friend that you have faith in them by standing up for their reputation. Good friends relate honestly and intimately.
A true friend doesn’t date an ex
I’ll repeat a friend doesn’t date an ex or have sex with an ex. It’s just a line that shouldn’t be crossed. There are plenty of people in the dating pool that you don’t have to dig in your friends bag of have-nots.  There’s also etiquette to follow if your friend is in a relationship. Be it casual or a serious committed relationship she is where your loyalty lies, never come between her and her partner. Having her back and being in the middle are two different things. Remember ladies chicks-before d@#$. Your loyalty lies with your friend.

A true friend gives you the truth, even if everybody else lies to you
Simply put, she’s 100% honest with you. It doesn’t mean you’re judging her or not accepting her, it means you are concerned. You should want the best for the people you love, and that’s what you’re doing.  If you think your friend is making bad life decisions tell her. The best relationships are when both people involved challenge each other to be better people

A true friend isn’t instantly jealous of you all the time
Your friendship is not a competition, and definitely not a race to see who reaches success and happiness first. The whole notion of a frenemey is false. A friend will not want to sabotage your accomplishments, personal or professional. She also won’t disappear when her accomplishments appear to fall short in comparison to yours, because she knows that those things don’t matter.

A true  friend remembers what matters to you
A friend remembers you, and knows what is important to you. This is way more than remembering birthdays. This means actually being there by their side for things that matter. Good or bad, and not only when it’s convenient for them. A true friend will remember that you’ve been sick in bed, or that you called him or her over 72 hours ago, and he or she needs to call you back. Those who are too busy living their lives without regard to how you’d prefer to be treated, need not be so heavily on your radar! Love is, as love does.
