She's Back-The Welfare Queen

The term Welfare Queen Coined by president Regan's 1976 presidential campaign, was carved into the mind of millions Americans and still hasn't left. The propaganda of that campaign left many people of an image of a woman milking the system, and living the good life off the hard earned tax dollars of working Americans.

“She has eighty names, thirty addresses, twelve Social Security cards and is collecting veterans’ benefits on four nonexisting deceased husbands,” Reagan told enraptured crowds at stump speeches. “Her tax-free income alone is over $150,000.”

This mythical  Welfare Queen has yet to be found. Personally, I know of women who live solely off the welfare system and they are hardly living the good life, making $150, 000 a year. It was actually the video below that brought my mind back to President Regan and his image of the welfare Queen. Comical at first, the images and her lyrics were funny, but than I thought about the times I've actually felt this way. The many times that I thought to myself, it's not fair. These woman have children, and get all these benefits from the government, and I'm left to struggle. I did all the right things, I have no children out of wedlock, I went to college, have a job. Why does she get it easy? That's when it dawned on me, I too have been brainwashed into thinking these woman have it easy, and really it isn't. How could I ever think it's easier to live a life, where you are conditioned to never want better?

What are your thoughts on the resurrection of the welfare Queen in many of the republican campaigns. Is it true, or is it propaganda to make Americans want to get rid of these programs for the poor?
