Make Your next Event Pop By Putting Down the Sangria And Make, Strawberry Whiskey Sours

I have a new love affair.... and it's with Whiskey. I will be honest I thought nothing could trump my love of a good tequila but my husband put me onto a dope whiskey and low and behold my life was changed. Similar to many people my drink of choice for whiskey was a Whiskey Sour. Don't make that face, it's pretty good but there are always ways to make things better. I was searching pinterest for some drink recipes and came across this one below. Take a look and enjoy!

Strawberry Whiskey Sour

Recipe type: Cocktail

Yield: 1 serving

For the sour mix:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice

First, combine the water and sugar in a small pot and simmer until the sugar completely dissolves. Turn down the heat and add the lemon and lime juice. Remove from heat and let the mixture cook before straining it a final time into an airtight glass container.

For the strawberry simple syrup:

  • 1 pound of strawberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1 Cup of granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup of water

In a saucepan add the Sugar, Water and Strawberries. Let come to a slight boil than turn down to a simmer. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes than strain out the strawberries. Put in a heat safe container and let cool, once cool put in airtight container in the fridge til ready to use.

For the strawberry whiskey sour:
  • 2 ounces whiskey (bourbon recommended)
  • 2 ounces sour mix
  • 1 ounce strawberry simple syrup

Put Ice in Glass add ingredients than give the drink a stir and serve.

Although this drink may take some prep work both the Sour Mix and Strawberry simple syrup can last in the fridge for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container meaning you can have quite a few rounds with friends!
